In the article, Patrick discusses how the high upfront cost of electric vehicles (EVs), even in the second-hand EV market, acts as a barrier for low income households to make the transition to EVs. Patrick argues that the key to taking low income households on the journey towards decarbonised road transport lies in bolstering the second-hand EV market. Patrick makes the case that as they have a high turnover, all central and local government fleet vehicles should be electric as soon as possible.
